The next hearing for state compensation in the Suraj case is September 13th!

We ask for your cooperation in attending the hearing.

On Monday, June 24, 2013, the 10th hearing for state compensation in the Suraj case was held. This hearing was mainly about adjusting the schedule for future trials. The presiding judge proactively expressed a strong desire to write the decision himself, and a date was set for the trial to be concluded within this fiscal year. I cannot be optimistic, but I feel that the presiding judge will be able to look at the case fairly.

After the trial, the defense team confirmed future questioning schedules and mentioned the prosecutorial review board, which had been pending until now. APFS has received many inquiries about the prosecutorial review board, with people saying, "What the immigration officials did was a crime, so we want them to be properly punished for it. Even if the decision is not made to indict, is there a possibility of a prosecutorial review board being held?" There are currently over 1,000 signatures collected calling for the prosecutorial review board to pass a resolution to indict. The defense team said that they will definitely hold the review board when the time is right, and that the signatures collected by supporters will not go to waste.

Below is the upcoming schedule (items marked as "planned" are subject to change. In that case we will announce it on the APFS Blog etc.).

Friday, September 13, 2013 Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 706, 10:00-17:00 Interrogation by four immigration officials
* The remaining five immigration officials will also be present in court and will be questioned if necessary.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013 Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 706 10:00-17:00 Questioning of related doctors (scheduled)
February 3, 2013 (Monday) Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 705 15:00 ~ Closing arguments (scheduled)

The next hearing, on September 13th, will be held for the four immigration officials who drove Suraj to his death and who have never shown up until now despite being the defendants. We would appreciate your cooperation in attending the hearing.
