The next hearing for the national compensation claim in the Suraj case is on September 13th!

We would appreciate your cooperation in observing the proceedings.

On Monday, June 24, 2013, the 10th hearing for the national compensation case in the Suraj case took place. This hearing was mainly for scheduling future court proceedings. The presiding judge proactively expressed a strong desire to write the judgment himself, and a date was set to conclude the case within this fiscal year. While we cannot be overly optimistic, we feel that this judge will be able to provide a fair assessment.

After the trial, the defense team confirmed the schedule for future questioning and mentioned the pending prosecution review board. APFS had received many inquiries about the prosecution review board, with people saying, "What the immigration officer did was a crime, so we want him to be properly punished. Even if he is not indicted, is there no possibility of a prosecution review board?" More than 1,000 signatures have been collected so that the prosecution review board will decide that indictment is warranted. The defense team said that they will definitely hold a review board meeting when the time is right, and that the signatures collected from supporters will not be wasted.

Below is the schedule for the coming days (items marked as "(tentative)" are subject to change. Any changes will be announced on the APFS Blog, etc.).

September 13, 2013 (Friday), Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 706, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Interrogation of four immigration officials.
*The remaining five immigration officers will also be present and questioned if necessary.

Wednesday, October 23, 2013, Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 706, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM: Questioning of related physicians (scheduled)
Monday, February 3, 2013, Tokyo District Court, Courtroom 705, 3:00 PM - Final arguments (scheduled)

Next time, on September 13th, we will be questioning the four immigration officers who drove Suraj to her death and who, despite being defendants, have never shown their faces until now. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
