On March 22, 2010, Abubagar Awudu Suraj, a Ghanaian national (hereinafter referred to as Mr. Suraj), died while being deported at government expense. To uncover the truth behind Mr. Suraj's death, we filed a lawsuit for state compensation on August 5, 2010, and on March 19, 2014, a landmark district court ruling was handed down acknowledging that the immigration officers' restraint was "illegal" and that Mr. Suraj died as a result of these illegal actions. However, the government appealed this ruling, and we, the plaintiffs, also chose to appeal.
Following the plaintiff's arguments last time, this time we will hear the defendant's arguments. If there are no new arguments this time, the trial may be concluded. The appeal trial is finally reaching its climax. Your continued attendance will continue to put pressure on the government and appeal to the judges. We would appreciate your cooperation in attending the proceedings until the very end.
Please also extend this invitation to your family and friends.
