[Request for Attendance] Suraj Case State Compensation Lawsuit High Court 6th Hearing

Thank you for your cooperation in attending!

On March 22, 2010, a Ghanaian man, ABUBAKAR AWUDU SURAJ (hereinafter referred to as Suraj), died during government-sponsored deportation. In order to determine the truth behind Suraj's death, a lawsuit for state compensation was filed on August 5, 2010, and on March 19, 2014, a landmark district court ruling was handed down that recognized that the immigration officials' restraining actions were "illegal" and that Suraj's death was due to their illegal actions.
However, the government appealed the ruling, and we, the plaintiffs, decided to appeal as well.
The trial is expected to conclude after questioning of Dr. Katsumata in Nagoya on September 14.
Suraj's wife is scheduled to make a statement, and the defense team will make their final appeal. Your attendance will continue to pressure the government and appeal to the judge. We ask for your cooperation in attending the hearing until the very end.
Please feel free to reach out to your family and friends!

Date and time: November 18, 2015 (Wednesday) from 10:00 a.m.
Venue: Tokyo High Court, Courtroom 825
