On March 22, 2010, a Ghanaian man, ABUBAKAR AWUDU SURAJ (hereinafter referred to as Suraj), died during government-sponsored deportation. In order to determine the truth behind Suraj's death, we filed a lawsuit seeking state compensation on August 5, 2010, and on March 19, 2014, a landmark district court ruling was handed down that recognized that the immigration officials' restraining actions were "illegal" and that Suraj's death was due to their illegal actions. However, the government was not satisfied with this ruling and appealed, and in response, we, the plaintiffs, chose to appeal as well.
Appeal trials often end with the first hearing, but Suraj's case always attracts a large number of spectators, and the judges seem to recognize that it is a case that is attracting public attention, so they seem to take a certain amount of time to deliberate thoroughly. Your attendance at the hearings will continue to put pressure on the government and appeal to the judges! The more you attend the hearings, the greater the power.
We appreciate your cooperation in reaching out to your family and friends.
