[Ofunato] Curry to give you lots of energy - Bangladeshi chef

Excerpt from Iwate Nippo, March 28, 2011.

On the 27th, members of the Tokyo-based NPO "Asian People's Friendship Society" (representative: Jotaro Kato) served curry rice at Suezakicho Junior High School in Ofunato City, which is being used as an evacuation center. The heartfelt lunch brought some comfort to the disaster victims.
Representative Kato and three others, including Shajahan Baitariq (46), a Bangladeshi-born owner-chef of a restaurant in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, visited the restaurant.
To ensure that children and the elderly could also enjoy it, 300 servings of mild chicken coconut curry were provided. The curry was prepared in Tokyo over the course of a day, and then finished in two and a half hours after arriving at the school.
Shajahan and others encouraged everyone, saying, "Eat plenty and get well," as they served piping hot curry. Some people even asked for seconds of the authentic curry, which had a mild coconut milk flavor and was well-spiced.
Ikki Shiraishi, a fifth-grader at Suezaki Elementary School, smiled and said, "It's been a while since I've had curry. It tasted better than usual."
After receiving words of gratitude from the disaster victims, Shajahan said, "It makes me so happy. It's an unbelievable sight everywhere. I hope I can be of some help to everyone."
