On March 22, 2010, a Ghanaian national, Abubagar Awudu Suraj (hereinafter referred to as Suraj),
He died while being deported at government expense. In order to uncover the truth about Mr. Suraj's death, a lawsuit for state compensation was filed on August 5, 2010, and on March 19, 2014, a landmark district court ruling was handed down acknowledging that the immigration officers' restraint was "illegal" and that Mr. Suraj died as a result of those illegal actions.
However, the government appealed this ruling, and in response, we, the plaintiffs, also chose to appeal.
The appeal trial concluded at the last hearing, and the verdict will finally be delivered next time. Several truths have been revealed, including how unreliable Dr. Katsumata's opinion submitted for the appeal was. We hope for a just verdict that rejects the inhumane treatment Suraj received. Let's all listen together to hear the victory. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation in attending the hearing until the very end.
