On March 22, 2010, Abubagar Awudu Suraj (hereinafter referred to as Mr. Suraj), a Ghanaian national, died while being deported at government expense.
This death occurred when immigration officials accompanying the deportation forcibly restrained the person using handcuffs, towels, and personal zip ties, which are not permitted by regulations.
To uncover the truth behind Suraj's death, we filed a lawsuit on August 5, 2010, seeking damages from the government and immigration officials. Suraj regretted overstaying his visa and only wished to live in Japan with his wife. Through this lawsuit, we will uncover why Suraj had to die.
The next hearing will be the final arguments. In addition to the final arguments from the plaintiff and defendant, we also plan to hear the final appeal from the wife of the plaintiff, Mr. Suraj. (The verdict will be announced at a later date.)
The more people who attend the hearing, the greater the power it will be to uncover the truth of this case.
Your cooperation in observing the proceedings would be greatly appreciated.
