Urgent Notice: Protest against the decision not to prosecute in the Suraj case!!
7.30 One-day protest action
On March 22, 2010, ABUBAKAR AWUDU SURAJ (hereinafter referred to as Suraj), a Ghanaian national, died during government-sponsored deportation. The death was the result of excessive force by the immigration officials accompanying him. Suraj's Japanese wife filed a criminal complaint against the immigration officials accompanying him on June 28, 2010. On July 3, more than two years later, the Chiba District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to indict the officials. Until now, the cause of Suraj's death was unknown, but now they have fabricated a story that Suraj had a heart condition, which they claim was the cause of his death.
Suraj's wife and we, his supporters, will be holding a "July 30th One-Day Protest Action" to protest against this decision not to prosecute. We hope that more people will join us and demand a fair process for the state compensation lawsuit, and put pressure on the Chiba District Public Prosecutors Office, where public officials are covering up the crimes of their own people!
