The Supreme Court has issued its ruling in the Suraj case.

The Supreme Court ruling on November 9, 2016, in the lawsuit seeking state compensation for Suraj, a Ghanaian national who died while being deported at government expense, was finalized. The result was a final defeat for the plaintiffs (Suraj's wife and others). While the district court recognized the illegality of the immigration authorities' actions, the high court reversed this decision, finding the actions necessary and appropriate, and this high court ruling has now been finalized.

Up until now, together with Mr. Suraj's wife, his legal team, and all of our supporters, we have been protesting the illegality of the immigration authorities' actions. However, the government has gathered numerous expert opinions and other documents that favor the government, and the higher court has accepted them, resulting in this disappointing verdict.

*Following the Supreme Court ruling, a message from the wife and a report from the legal team have been posted on the APFS blog. Please take a look.
