APFS held a "Foreigner Consultation Hotline" on December 10th (Saturday) and 11th (Sunday).
In addition to addressing the new consultation needs of foreign residents,
By holding the event on December 10th, World Human Rights Day, it also aims to raise awareness about protecting the human rights of foreigners.
We received 42 inquiries over the course of two days.
The nationalities of the people seeking advice included those of India, Uganda, Sweden, China, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
Because the consultations were conducted by phone, we received inquiries from as far away as Aichi Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, and other areas.
Lawyers and consultants provided consultations with interpretation in English, Chinese, Tagalog, and Nepali.
●I'm very anxious after getting divorced. What procedures do I need to follow to stay in Japan?
● What procedures should I follow if I want to stay in Japan after my refugee status application has been denied?
Many of the consultations involved urgent matters like these.
Furthermore, it has become clear that the current system is not keeping pace with the realities surrounding foreigners.
On both Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th, participants of the "Training Course for Community Leaders of Foreign Origin," which began in September, will also be attending.
I participated as an observer.
At the workplace, the terminology learned in the course was frequently used, and it became an opportunity to think about how to put the knowledge we had learned into practice.
The next event will be held on January 21st (Saturday) and 22nd (Sunday), 2016, from 12:00 to 17:00 each day.
We would be grateful if you could inform any foreigners around you about using this service.
