The 18th Migrant Workers' Gathering APFS★May Day was held.

A large crowd gathered.

On Sunday, April 30, 2017, the "18th Gathering of Migrant Workers APFS★May Day" was held at Itabashi Ward Green Hall.
First, APFS Vice Representative Director Yoshida introduced the organization's new structure, and then APFS Advisor Yoshinari strongly asserted in his keynote address that "the working conditions for migrant workers have not changed at all in the last 30 years." Following this, the meeting resolution was adopted in both Japanese and English.
In addition, we had speeches from guests of honor, including Professor Tetsuo Mizukami of Rikkyo University, Burmese human rights activist Cho Cho Soe, Professor Ichiro Watado of Meisei University, Professor Yoshiaki Noro of Rikkyo University, and Itabashi Ward Council Member Atsuko Inoue. All of them addressed the difficult legal situation faced by foreign residents, and offered warm words of encouragement and highlighted the importance of migrant workers taking the initiative to improve the situation.
During the informal gathering in the second half, delicious Bangladeshi food was served, and there was also a wonderful performance by the Bangladeshi music group "Uthlon," bringing the meeting to a successful close.

This was the first event in about 10 years since the last one in 2006, and many members who had been with APFS since its inception participated, making it a lively gathering of around 100 people, including those directly affected and related to the issue. New and old members actively exchanged opinions with each other. We hope to continue actively creating such networks among members in the future.
