The third hearing in the Suraj case national compensation lawsuit has concluded.

Reporting

On January 21, 2015, the third hearing of the appeal trial in the national compensation lawsuit in the Suraj case was held.
This time, the defendant presented their counter-arguments. They submitted documents, including an opinion from a prominent forensic pathologist and a statement from an immigration officer, arguing that Ms. Suraj did not die of asphyxiation and that the officer's actions were not illegal under the law. Therefore, the next hearing will again be the plaintiff's counter-argument, and it is likely that the trial will conclude.

After the trial concluded, a debriefing session was held at a different location. The defense attorneys explained the government's arguments and provided updates on future developments. (The photo shows the debriefing session.)

The next hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 10:30 AM in Courtroom 825 of the Tokyo High Court. This will be the final crucial stage of the appeal trial, where the defense lawyers will present their counterarguments. Your continued attendance would be greatly appreciated.
