[Breaking News] The Road to Hope Project has begun its mass petition campaign to local assemblies.

We held a press conference to mark the start of the project.

Starting on Monday, August 18, 2014, we began a "mass petition campaign to local assemblies" as part of the "Path to Hope Project."
The purpose of the petition is: 1) to legalize undocumented foreign residents, and 2) to build a society where everyone can have "hope."
The request is to submit a written opinion to the government demanding that they do so.
We will submit petitions to 35 local assemblies in total, including the 16 municipalities and the 23 wards of Tokyo where undocumented foreign residents currently live.

We will complete the petition by the beginning of September and explain its purpose to the various members of parliament before the plenary session at the end of October.
Our goal is to have at least one petition adopted and an opinion paper submitted to the government.

To mark the start of the petition, we held a press conference at 10:00 AM on Monday, the 18th.
NHK extensively covered the issue, allowing many viewers to learn about it.

This project is participating in READY FOR? (crowdfunding).
