Protest against the government-sponsored repatriation of 75 undocumented Filipinos on a chartered plane

On July 6, 2013, the Ministry of Justice and the Immigration Bureau deported 75 illegal Filipinos on a chartered plane.
The following has been discovered so far. There have also been angry voices from family and friends left behind in Japan.
On July 5, a person was transferred from the Tokyo Immigration Bureau to the East Japan Immigration Center (Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture) and deported to the Philippines.
Those who were deported included women and children.
・There are cases where men have been deported despite being legally married to Filipino women with resident status.
・There are people who still don't know when they will return home.

Three Filipinos who had come to APFS for consultation were also deported by charter flight. This happened just as we were preparing to file a lawsuit to revoke the deportation orders for the three and to apply for provisional release. We have confirmed that all three are safe, but they still have a mountain of issues to deal with, such as rebuilding their lives.

On March 22, 2010, ABUBAKAR AWUDU SURAJ (Ghanaian national), who was receiving support from APFS in obtaining special residence permission, died during government-sponsored deportation. After Suraj's death, the Ministry of Justice and the Immigration Bureau had suspended the deportation of people who were evading deportation. Suraj's case is still ongoing, with a lawsuit seeking state compensation, and the truth of the matter has not been fully uncovered. Despite these circumstances, the Ministry of Justice and the Immigration Bureau went ahead with the deportation on a chartered flight.

The 75 people were suddenly forced to return home without even being able to say goodbye to their families and friends. The deportation on this chartered flight is extremely inhumane. APFS strongly protests the Ministry of Justice and the Immigration Bureau's decision to deport them on a chartered flight.

[Urgent! Please donate to help make the Philippines on-site interview survey possible]
APFS is considering sending staff to the Philippines to conduct interviews to find out what the problems are with the repatriation by chartered plane, what difficulties the people who were suddenly repatriated are facing after their repatriation, etc. We are considering compiling the results of the investigation into a report and submitting it to the Ministry of Justice.
We appreciate your cooperation in making this possible.
