The third hearing for state compensation in the Suraj case was held on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 2:00 p.m.
Last time, the presiding judge pointed out to the defendant, the government, that it should respond properly, rather than withholding its plea, and in response, the preparatory brief submitted by the government this time was a summary of what we, the plaintiffs, had submitted. The defense team pressed the defendant, saying that not raising any objections to our arguments meant that there was no dispute over the facts, but the defendant responded by saying that it had only organized the details and that it wanted to ensure that the criminal punishment would not be impeded. In addition to withholding its plea, this response was also dishonest, and there were angry voices among the spectators, who said, "How long are you going to let this go unresolved?"
At the presiding judge's suggestion, the plaintiffs would summarize their arguments so far and do everything they could before the next hearing, and then the court would decide how to respond.
The next hearing will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, from 4:00 pm to 7:05 pm in court. I hope you will come and see for yourself how long the government will continue to respond in this way. Thank you for your cooperation in attending the hearing.
