On Monday, January 16, 2012, at 2 p.m., the second hearing of the Suraj case seeking state compensation was held in Courtroom 705 of the Tokyo District Court.
The defendant's government side has responded exactly the same as the last time, withholding admission of guilty until the criminal punishment is decided. I felt indignant at the government's attitude of lacking sincerity. In response, the presiding judge said that they should consider proceeding with the criminal punishment in parallel. I hope that from the next time onwards, the government side will clarify its position and make progress, even if it is only a little at a time.
The next third hearing will be held on Monday, March 12th from 2pm in Courtroom 705.
We ask for your continued cooperation in attending the hearings.
