[Earthquake] We provided 500 meals of Bangladeshi curry (Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture)

Serving Bangladeshi curry

Nearly three weeks have passed since the Great Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake. We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to all those affected.

Not only Japanese people, but many foreign residents are also heartbroken by the disaster. Our organization office has received repeated voices from people saying, "As foreigners who have lived in Japan for many years, we want to do something."

As the first step in our support activities for the disaster-stricken areas, we went to the disaster-stricken area (Iwate Prefecture) on Sunday, March 27, 2011, and provided Bangladeshi curry. Three members of our organization, Kato, Shajahan (Hassan), and Katsuta, along with two others who helped with documentation, made up a total of five people who went to the disaster-stricken area.

Through television and other media, elderly people and children in the disaster-stricken areas were expressing their desire to "eat something warm" and "eat meat." Director Shajahan (Hassan) had a strong desire to respond to these voices, which led to the above activities.

The victims sent us many kind words, such as, "This is the first time I've been able to eat something warm since the disaster," "It was so delicious I ate two and a half bowls," "Having curry rice after such a long time gave me energy," "Thank you so much," and "We will definitely rebuild, so please come visit us."

Our organization's philosophy is "mutual understanding and mutual assistance between Japanese and foreigners." During the activity, Shajahan (Hassan) said, "Regardless of country, everyone in Japan needs to help each other." This activity truly embodied our organization's philosophy.

Regarding this activity,PadmaWe would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Italian-Bangladeshi cuisine chef and Ms. Tomoe Mega, an employee of Iwate Prefecture, for their generous cooperation.

Based on this activity, APFS will continue to support the disaster-stricken areas in the future.
