APFS Christmas Party

Adults get excited about the musical chairs game

APFS held its Christmas party on December 20, 2009. Over 100 people gathered on the day, ate delicious ethnic food, and deepened their friendships through thrilling games.

Many families without resident status also attend APFS parties. Living without a resident status in this Japanese society is a huge mental stressor. When will people with serious worries and suffering be able to have a Christmas party they can enjoy from the bottom of their hearts?

On the day, children from 22 families who have already been issued deportation orders also participated. The children dream of becoming police officers, train drivers, or pastry chefs. However, in their current situation without a residence status, it is difficult for them to find any kind of occupation. The first step in making the children's dreams come true is for adults to put in a little more effort and get special residence permission.

APFS has been asking the Immigration Bureau to grant special residence permission to 22 families since February last year through 100-day actions, but the current situation is very difficult. Of the 22 families, eight fathers are being held by the Immigration Bureau. They hoped that the fathers would be granted provisional release in time for the Christmas party so that the children could receive wonderful presents, but it seems that the children's voices did not reach the Immigration Bureau.

APFS is seen as a tough organization, with events such as the protests in front of the Ministry of Justice, but we also have many fun events such as the Asia Fair and Christmas Party. Please come and visit us.
