On Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 2:10 PM to 4:30 PM, 18 families and 1 individual (43 people in total) of undocumented foreign residents conducted a joint signature campaign around JR Takadanobaba Station.
The 18 families and 1 individual totaling 43 people come from nine different countries: the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Peru, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Korea, Bolivia, and Congo.
All of them visited Japan in the late 1980s or 1990s.
Under the scorching sun with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, 43 individuals from 18 families and one individual, along with their supporters, collected signatures.
Children from the third grade of elementary school to the first year of high school also participated.
The person involved actively approached passersby and explained their situation.
In addition, some supporters took to the streets and made appeals using microphones to show their support for those involved.
444 signatures were collected within two hours.
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition.
APFS will continue to ask for your signatures to show the Ministry of Justice that many people are supporting 18 families and 1 individual (43 people).
We ask for your cooperation so that 18 families and 1 individual (43 people in total) who have lived peacefully in Japan for many years can continue to reside in Japan.
