On Sunday, August 21, 2016, from 1:30pm to 5:30pm, a "Free Health Checkup for Foreign Residents" was held at High Life Plaza Itabashi.
During the 90-minute reception time from 13:30 to 15:00, 49 people visited the clinic. Perhaps reflecting the fact that the clinic was held in Tokyo, the patients came from a very diverse range of countries, including Myanmar, the Philippines, Iran, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Nepal, China, Tanzania, Russia, Nigeria, and Mali.
It was discovered that the patient's blood pressure was extremely high, and in some cases the patient was immediately referred to a medical institution, making it possible to prevent disease at an early stage.
This time, as a first attempt, APFS also provided residence and lifestyle consultations at the same time as the health check. A trend was observed in which the unstable residence situation was affecting the health of the people. Thirteen consultations were received, showing that there was a very high need for consultations.
Due to the large number of patients who visited, the opening hours were extended by an hour and a half. We would like to express our gratitude to the co-sponsoring organization, SHARE (Citizens' Association for Global Health Cooperation), for extending the opening hours and providing such friendly support to all of us.
