APFS began with the "Children's Conference" on Saturday, August 29, 2015, and continued with the following:APFS 100-Day Action Plan to Nurture Children's DreamsWe are working on "[...].
At the "Children's Conference," ideas were proposed to address the problem of undocumented immigration, such as "promoting ourselves," "consulting with influential people," and "asking politicians."
Therefore, as the second phase of its "100-Day Action," APFS is lobbying members of parliament to improve the situation of children who are undocumented immigrants.
By September 8th (Tuesday), I had visited the offices of eight Diet members from the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, the Democratic Party, and the Japan Innovation Party, and met with Diet members and their secretaries.
Statistics have yet to be released on how many children are in a state of undocumented immigration. I emphasized the need to understand the actual situation.
I also explained that for children in undocumented residence, poverty is a problem, but their unstable residency status makes it impossible to envision a future. Furthermore, I explained the current situation where a system is being implemented that attempts to grant residency status only to children in exchange for the deportation of their parents.
Some members of parliament expressed opinions such as, "We must protect the future of children," and "Humanitarian considerations are necessary."
This Diet session is packed with bills, including the security bills, but we will continue our efforts to lobby Diet members with the goal of having them ask questions of the Ministry of Justice in the Judicial Affairs Committee and other relevant committees during the next extraordinary Diet session.
APFS will continue to work to ensure that children can safely nurture their dreams. We appreciate your continued support.
