The non-profit organization ASIAN PEOPLE'S FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY (APFS) held a charity concert in collaboration with ASAJ (Arakan Social Association Japan).
This charity concert was held for the purpose of Arakan people (one of the ethnic groups in Myanmar) living in Japan supporting the Arakan people living in Myanmar. Seven artists, including Myanmar's most famous actor, Nay Toe, came to Japan.
The charity concert began after a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the earthquake that occurred off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture in the Tohoku region on Friday, March 11. Due to the effects of the earthquake, it was at one point in doubt whether the concert could be held, but thanks to the concert's artists and staff working together and the many people who courageously attended despite the continuing aftershocks, the charity concert was a great success.
All proceeds from this charity concert will be donated to: 1) scholarships for medical students, 2) scholarships for outstanding students going on to university, and 3) support funds for child welfare facilities in Myanmar.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped us.
