A petition requesting special permission to stay was submitted to the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice.

A petition requesting special permission to stay was submitted to the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice.

On Friday, September 7, 2012, 29 irregular residents consisting of 13 families and two individuals and APFS visited the House of Councilors' Office Building and handed over 1) 5,214 signatures calling for special residence permission and 2) a petition written by the 29 individuals consisting of 13 families and two individuals to Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice Matsuno Nobuo.
The 29 participants, consisting of 13 families and two individuals, come from seven countries: the Philippines, Bangladesh, Iran, Pakistan, South Korea, Bolivia and Peru.

APFS has once again requested the following four points:
—————————————————————————————————————-
1. Please allow irregular families with children in the fourth grade or above to stay in Japan.
2. Do not separate parents and children/husbands and wives
3. Special residence permission should be granted to the families of those who entered the country illegally
4. Please allow the residence of undocumented residents who have children in Japan.
——————————————————————————————————————–

In response to the request from APFS, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice expressed understanding of the significant impact on education of children born in Japan who are irregular residents and are deported to their home countries, and the need to treat families as one unit without separating them. In addition, based on the request, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Justice has decided to consider granting special residence permission to 29 people, consisting of 13 families and two individuals.

In front of the House of Councillors building, the people involved appealed for their own request to stay in Japan. Some of the children of the people involved appealed, "I want to get a visa for everyone here, not just my family." APFS will continue to work together with undocumented residents to do our best to obtain special permission to stay in Japan. We appreciate your continued support.

[Thank you for your support]
We have now successfully submitted the 5,214 signatures we have been collecting for some time, "Special residence permission for long-term family members!" We would like to once again express our gratitude to everyone who helped with the signature collection.
