APFS was founded 26 years ago by Bangladeshis and Japanese. Among the members involved in its establishment, some remained in Japan, while many others were forced to return to their home countries.
In December 2013, we received news from Bangladesh that Mustafa (a former APFS steering committee member), one of the members who had returned to Bangladesh, was battling cancer.
We have received a request from our first secretary-general, Masud Karim, who is currently in Bangladesh, to ask us to start a fundraising campaign in Japan as well, in order to raise funds for Mustafa's medical treatment.
APFS began preparing a fundraising campaign to save Mustafa's life. However, just as they were making preparations, Mustafa passed away on December 21, 2013. Mustafa left behind his wife and young children. Their lives have been extremely difficult since Mustafa's death.
Therefore, in order to support Mustafa's family, APFS continued its fundraising activities at events such as "VICTORY DAY" (a gathering to celebrate Bangladesh's Independence Day). On February 10, 2014, we sent 60,000 yen, collected from Bangladeshis living in Japan, to Mustafa's wife.
The following are the names of everyone who made a donation. We express our heartfelt gratitude for your support.
