APFS held its regular general meeting.

On June 14, 2026, the regular general meeting was held at the APFS office.
In fiscal year 2025, we continued to focus on consultation activities, with the majority of consultations still related to residence status (special permission to stay, changes and renewals of residence status, etc.). In the latter half of the year, we also saw an increase in inquiries about permanent residency and naturalization from people who had learned about the news of stricter screening processes. Recently, consultations have become easier to conduct using WhatsApp and Messenger, and we have also started to have video calls with people living far away, so we are really feeling that the form of consultations is changing with the times.
Earlier this year, only the father of an undocumented family, whom APFS had been supporting for nearly 20 years, was deported. Due to the "Zero Illegal Immigrants Plan" implemented last year, deportations have increased, and ruthless situations like this father's, where he suffers from a serious illness and has children born and raised in Japan, are being deported alone.
Other activities included conducting "free medical consultations" and "free mental health consultations," focusing on the mental and physical health of foreign residents. This is because many people on probation, for example, experience highly stressful daily lives, are unable to go to the hospital due to lack of health insurance, and are reaching their physical and mental limits. These consultations were initially held as one-off events, but after discussions with the doctors and other professionals who cooperate with us, we plan to continue them irregularly in the future.
Our finances remain tight, but last year's office relocation allowed us to reduce rent and utility costs. Last year's move itself was expensive, but we hope to turn a profit this year and gradually build up our financial strength.
