Today, September 14th, we held the first "Mental Health Counseling Cafe" for foreigners living in Japan.
This time, two individuals of Bangladeshi nationality visited our center and had in-depth conversations with a psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist for an hour each.
One person, who has already seen a psychiatrist, expressed his eagerness to recover quickly and return to work because he wants to bring his wife from his home country to live with him in Japan.
The other person is currently in the process of applying for refugee status, does not have a work permit, cannot work, cannot return to their home country, and their children are growing up in Japan.
I told them how difficult it is to feel like I can't do anything for them every day as a parent.
At APFS, we strive to solve a variety of problems together, but most cases cannot be resolved overnight. To prevent the emotional distress of those involved during such times, we have started this program. We believe that even just having a professional listen to you can alleviate some of the stress. The next session is on October 5th. No matter what your problem is, please come and talk to us if you are living in Japan and feeling overwhelmed. We look forward to hearing from you to schedule an appointment.
