The second counselor training course "Introduction to Immigration Control Law" was held

Scenes from the second training seminar

On July 23, 2023, the second counselor training course "Introduction to Immigration Control Law" was held at the APFS office. The lecturer was Kazuya Kurosawa, a lawyer from Sumire Law Office.
First, there was a talk on the Constitution and foreigners, and then we finally got into the Immigration Control Act. There was an explanation of keywords that frequently come up in supporting foreigners, such as residence status, forced deportation, special permission to stay, petition for reconsideration, and administrative litigation. Since this was a "counselor training" course, some participants were already involved in counseling in the field, and they also talked about important points in practice, such as what to check first when considering residence status at such counseling sites, and what to be careful of. Finally, Attorney Kurosawa introduced the words "know the law from the facts," which he remembered from a senior lawyer he had once said. When studying law, you can't just read the law from scratch and memorize it, but if you study the necessary parts while dealing with actual cases, it will naturally come into your head. We at APFS, who provide counseling, are also studying every day in this way, so these words were very encouraging.

The next counselor training course will be held on Sunday, September 24th, and will be titled "Children with Undocumented Immigrants." This session is already full, but there are still a few spots available, so if you are interested, please contact APFS as soon as possible.
