The second counselor training course "Introduction to Immigration Control Law" was held

Scenes from the 2nd training course

On July 23, 2023, the APFS office held its second counselor training course, "Introduction to Immigration Law." Attorney Kazuya Kurosawa of Sumire Law Office served as the lecturer.
The session began with a discussion of the Constitution and foreigners, followed by a delve into immigration law. Key terms frequently encountered in supporting foreigners were explained, including residence status, deportation, special permission to stay, appeals for retrial, and administrative litigation. As this was a "counselor training" course, some participants were already involved in consultations in the field. The session also covered important practical points, such as what to check first and what to pay attention to when considering residence status in such consultation situations. Finally, lawyer Kurosawa shared a memorable phrase he heard from a senior lawyer: "Learn the law by examining the facts." He explained that when studying the law, it's impossible to remember it by reading and memorizing the entire law from scratch. Instead, it's more effective to study the necessary parts while working with actual cases, and the information will naturally stick in your mind. This is exactly how we at APFS study every day, so these words were very encouraging.

The next counselor training course will be held on September 24th (Sunday) and will focus on "Children in Irregular Immigration." This session is already full, but there are a few spots still available in other sessions, so if you are interested, please contact APFS as soon as possible.
