Scenes from the first lecture series

On Sunday, September 22nd, we held the first "Exchange with Migrant Workers Living in Japan" event at the APFS office.
For our first episode, we welcomed Jerry, who is from Ghana, as our guest, and he shared various stories about his life in Japan since he arrived.
Before coming to Japan, he was a soccer player in Ghana, but after meeting a Japanese person there and learning about Japan at school, he became interested in the country and came to Japan more than 20 years ago.
He talked about how physically demanding it was after coming to Japan, working in factories and other jobs, and about injuries he sustained at work.
She now works in waste recycling and shared some of her workplace concerns with me.
Nevertheless, Jerry is a very conscientious person and doesn't like to change jobs easily. He seems to continue working hard to earn the trust of those around him.
In addition, Jerry served homemade Ghanaian dishes, and it seemed that all the participants were able to enjoy both the stories and the tastes of Ghana.

Next time, we plan to welcome Mika Hattori, who is from the Philippines, as our guest.
Enjoy a friendly chat with foreigners you don't often get the chance to talk to, and savor delicious local cuisine!
