On August 13, 2017, the annual free medical examination for foreign residents was held at Itabashi City Green Hall. As in previous years, it was co-hosted with SHARE (Citizens' Association for International Health Cooperation). A total of 41 people were examined during the reception from 1:30 pm to 3 pm. Half of the patients were from Nepal, which has been increasing recently, and the rest were from Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, the Philippines, etc. Foreign residents who usually find it difficult to go to the hospital due to financial burdens were able to ask doctors directly about various health concerns, especially during medical consultations, and some people consulted for a long time. The examination was scheduled to end at 4:30 pm, but it was extended by about an hour at another location.
In some cases, long-term support was required, and in those cases the APFS office will provide further consultation at a later date.
I realized that the nationalities of patients have been changing in recent years. I felt the need to explore the needs of Nepalese and Vietnamese patients, who are increasingly coming to APFS.
