Rikkyo University Global Urban Research Institute Public Lecture "Migration between Bangladesh and Japan: The Lives of Returning Bangladeshis" (tentative title)

Press conference in Bangladesh

APFS is working on a three-year project-based class with the Faculty of Sociology at Rikkyo University called "International Movement and Exchange of People: A Case Study between Japan and Bangladesh."
A public lecture related to the project will be held at Rikkyo University.

In the late 1980s, there was a sharp increase in the number of people from Bangladesh coming to Japan to work. After that, the Japanese Immigration Bureau changed its approach, and many of these people returned to their home countries. Based on data from interview surveys conducted in villages in Bangladesh, this paper reports on the lives of returnees who spent a certain period of time in Japan and were forced to return home due to deportation or other reasons.
