A family of irregular foreign residents has written a petition to the Minister of Justice

Children writing their thoughts

On July 22, 2012, about 30 families of irregular foreign residents wrote a petition to the Minister of Justice at the Itabashi Ward Cultural Center. By writing the petition, the participants aimed to convey in their own words their desire for special permission to stay in Japan. The petitions were written separately for children and adults.

In the request letters from adults, we saw statements such as, "Meeting Japanese colleagues and friends," which was their best memory of Japan. In the request letters from children, we saw statements such as, "I want to stay in Japan with my family," and, "Please don't break up my family." We can see that children want their families to be united in Japan. Both adults and children ended their requests with, "Please grant me a visa (special permission to stay)."

The petition will be delivered directly to the Ministry of Justice (Minister of Justice) by the parties involved. We would appreciate your continued support.

[Thank you for your support: Two families (6 people) have been granted special residence permission!]
Of the 35 people, consisting of 15 families and 2 individuals, who have been supported by APFS, 2 families and 6 people (from Burma and Sri Lanka) were granted special residence permits in July 2012. This is entirely thanks to your encouragement and cooperation. Thank you very much. We ask for your continued support until all the families have obtained special residence permits.
