On December 19, 2010, we held a joint rally to demand special residence permission for 42 people, 17 families and 1 individual. First, we reported on the following three points that we had submitted during negotiations with the Ministry of Justice.
(1) Please allow irregular families with children of elementary school age or older to stay in Japan
(2) Please allow the entire family to stay (please do not separate parents and children)
(3) Special residence permission should be granted to families of irregular immigrants
Next, we shared our awareness of the three barriers to obtaining permission to stay in Japan, namely, the "4th grade elementary school barrier," the "family separation barrier," and the "irregular entry barrier," and then explained future actions. The overall goal was to obtain stable residence in Japan for all children.
The short-term goal is to understand my situation in light of the "Guidelines for Special Residence Permission," and then seek cooperation through individual signature campaigns and appeals to people around me. The medium-term goal is to deepen and expand the movement through petitions to politicians, media coverage, general signature campaigns, and all kinds of actions and events. The long-term goal is to obtain special residence permission while strengthening horizontal connections and making policy recommendations.
