
APFS makes it a point to hold regular discussions with the relevant government ministries and agencies.
On Wednesday, May 19th, we held negotiations with the Ministry of Justice.
Three representatives from APFS attended, including President Jotaro Kato.
From the Ministry of Justice, Assistant Director Masaaki Nakayama of the Trial Division, Assistant Director Tetsuro Isobe of the Security Division, and others,
Five people handled the request.
APFS made the following four requests:
1. Please grant special permission to stay in Japan.
2. Please clarify how the guidelines concerning special permission to stay in Japan will be implemented.
3. Please explain the sequence of events in the case of the death of Mr. Abubagar Awudu Suraj.
4. Please explain why a retrial was not initiated for Mr. Abubagar Awudu Suraj.

It relates to this.
In light of the above guidelines, even among foreign families with clearly similar circumstances,
Approval and denial are separate decisions.
Some families wonder, "Why aren't we being accepted?"
From APFS, we consider the "positive elements" of the guidelines.
We requested that special permission for residence be granted to a foreign family member.
Furthermore, under the slogan "Grant special permission to stay to long-term resident family members,"

I emphasized that this represents the will of 8,409 people.

The third and fourth points concern the death of a person who died on March 22nd while being repatriated at government expense.
This concerns the case of ABUBAKAR AWUDU SURAJ.
"We cannot disclose further details as the police are currently investigating the matter."
The Ministry of Justice's Immigration Bureau's stance remains unchanged.
However, two months have passed since the incident.
APFS, along with the Ministry of Justice's Immigration Bureau, should investigate the truth.
I repeatedly emphasized that this was the case.
APFS hopes that these negotiations will lead to concrete progress in the situation.
