Report on the donation project "Overcoming the barriers of residency status and supporting the dreams of young people" (March 2022)

Our donation project, "Overcoming the Barriers of Residence Status and Supporting the Dreams of Young People," which we started last November, has received many warm donations from everyone. We have also received messages such as, "It is unacceptable for lives to be so severely distorted by a system created by humans called residence status," and "I hope that we can become a society that supports young people who are trying their best in Japan." Young people without residence status cannot receive public support such as educational assistance or scholarships, and their parents are unable to work because they are on provisional release, so they are in dire straits and unable to pay for living expenses or tuition, and are unable to dream of a future.

As before, we provided educational support to a single-mother family of Filipino nationality who are undocumented and in the most urgent need and facing severe financial hardship. Their eldest son, B, a high school student, successfully passed the entrance exam for a vocational school, and the deadline for paying the enrollment fee in March is fast approaching. The funds will be used to cover part of that payment. We received a thank-you message from B, which we would like to share with you.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you so much for the financial support you sent to celebrate my enrollment in vocational school. To be honest, I would have been in a very difficult financial situation without your support, so it was a great help. I will not forget your support and will dedicate myself to my studies, so I look forward to your continued support.
