A joint statement by researchers calling for the non-appeal of the state compensation lawsuit in the case of the death of a Ghanaian national who was deported at the government's expense has been issued.

On Wednesday, March 19, following the Tokyo District Court's ruling in the "Surraj Case State Compensation Lawsuit," 75 researchers involved in the study of issues and policies concerning foreigners and immigrants issued a "Joint Statement by Researchers Calling for No Appeal in the State Compensation Lawsuit Regarding the Death of a Ghanaian National Who Was Deported at Government Expenses."

On behalf of the 75 researchers, Professor Ichiro Watado of Meisei University and Professor Emeritus Hiroshi Komai of Tsukuba University spoke.
We delivered a joint statement addressed to the Minister of Justice. Ms. Yuki Kawai, Assistant Officer of the General Affairs Division, Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice, received the statement.
