From July 9, 2012, the revised Immigration Control Act came into effect, and there have been some big changes, such as the abolishment of Alien Registration Cards and their replacement by Residence Cards. People with visas will have to submit more notifications to the Immigration Bureau than ever before, and people without visas will no longer be able to get Residence Cards, meaning they will no longer have anything to prove their identity.
It is important for people with and without visas to properly understand the changes to the Immigration Control Act. At this symposium, the lecturer explained why the Immigration Control Act was revised and what the changes will entail. Afterwards, we had time to talk to the lecturer specifically about what kind of attention you need to pay depending on your visa. There were many questions about concerns about the new Immigration Control Act.
