On Sunday, February 23rd, we held the fifth session of our lecture series, "Interacting with Migrant Workers Living in Japan," titled "The Life of a Young Migrant Worker from China." Our guest speaker was Ms. Li Shiqi. She shared that she became interested in Japan through anime and other media, studied Japanese during her student years, and then came to Japan. She spoke about her daily life working in an IT-related field and her dreams for the future. She also talked about the "mysteries of the Japanese" that Chinese people find strange, such as how Japanese people strictly separate work and private life, and how she was confused when a colleague she had finally become close to at a drinking party reverted back to their original relationship the next day. She also mentioned that she wants to become friends with Japanese people, but finds it difficult.
After the talk, everyone enjoyed a meal prepared by Ms. Lee.
