One week sit-in action in front of Tokyo Immigration Office
Visa violators of foreign 17 families and 3 individuals totaling 34 people pursued “One week sit-in action in front of Tokyo Immigration Office” during Monday May 20 and Friday May 24, 2013. Nationalities of 34 people consists of 8; Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Guinea, Mali and Peru.

The objective of this action is to disseminate the wish of visa violators to stay in Japan to many people and to demand special permission for residence appealing to the immigration office of Ministry of Justice.

Continuation of the action in rain also under the scorching sun increasingly made up sympathy.

Passersby in front of Tokyo Immigration Office also participated in the sit-in action to jointly demand special permission for residence. The action was disseminated to all over Japan through press. The citizen of affected area, Ofunato, Iwate prefecture whom we supported sent us encouragement. Some people called us as TV news reported our action.

The voice such as “no separating of family members,” “wish to get a visa as soon as possible to resume working for family” and “return the courtesy to Japan” was incriminated to Tokyo Immigration Office. 34 people concerned impressively acted by shouting their hoarse not only for themselves but also for others who are suffering from the same problem to obtain special permission for residence.

We approached Tokyo Immigration Office twice; at the beginning and the end of the action. The appeal is to arrive at the head of the Tokyo Immigration Office.

We moved to the Ministry of Justice in the afternoon to submit the petition which Mr. Aoyagi, section manager of Judge and three others received. The content of the petition is as follows;
——————————————————————————————————————————
1. Permit overstay families who have children born in Japan to stay
2. Permit spouses of Japanese or permanent residents to stay
3. Permit overstay single persons to stay
4. Acknowledge fitness into Japanese community
5. Do not deport or inmate again 17 families and 3 individuals totaling 34 people concerned
——————————————————————————————————————————

The action and the petition do not mean immediate acceptance of special permission for residence. We continue our action to demand special permission for residence for 17 families and 3 individuals totaling 34 people. We ask for your support.
