On March 22, 2010, Mr. Abubakar Awudu Suraj, of Ghana citizenship, died during deportation to Ghana. Three years have passed since this first death accident happened in Japan. His family and supporters think that the cause of the death was immigration officers’ excessive pressure on Mr. Suraj. However the Prosecutors’ Office and the Ministry of Justice, which governs the Immigration Bureau, insist that the cause of death was his heart disease. (His heart was preserved and checked again. Based on this, they insist that he originally had heart disease.) We find it suspicious that he had heart disease and that it is the true cause of his death. So we sued the Ministry of Justice and the Japanese government for compensation.

At this meeting, we will review the proceedings of this case, and one of the lawyers from the lawyer’s team in this case will verify how this case will proceed and qualify the Mr. Suraj’s death. We will take the time to listen to speeches from his family and friends in life and would like you to know about his character.
Death during the process of deportation should never take place. To remember the importance of this incident, we hope that many people learn about the issue in this case.
We sincerely wish for your participation.
